Paintings

In my work, you will see my connections to the plants, animals & nature scenes that surround me. As interested in the feeling that the process provides to me as I am the end result, I am happy to lose myself finding that perfect color tone or shape that feels like I can step right into the scene. I create for well being and personal growth and the compositions seem to flow through me, giving me the incredible experience of knowing how to execute a piece beyond conscious intention. Through exploration of a variety of media, I’ve found the most transcendental processes to be creating landscapes through oil painting and needle felting. I hope that my work offers to the viewer, as it does me, a deep connection with the natural world that desperately needs our attention and love.

My painting process focuses on quick execution of realistic scenes. Typically working from photographs taken while travelling through Minnesota & my own little central MN farm as well as dream imagery, I strive to mix colors to accurately capture the light and feeling that a scene offers. Satisfied by the silky feel of the paint transferred from brush to canvas and fascinated by color, oil paints satisfy a desire to achieve accuracy through depth of hue and values, allowing me to render compositions that create immersive experiences for both me and future viewers.
